I’ve been eyeing up the Tohatsu 9.8 to replace the Yam 8 i have, The only area I can find of significant difference is the size of the engine, the Tohatsu is not quite such a compact design with a slightly larger box at the top. Unmatched in its class, the Tohatsu 9.8 hp 4-stroke has set the standard in portable outboard power! This lightweight motor weighs in at barely over the 80 lb mark and has undeniable characteristics of a true marine champion. Our 9.8hp outboard is skinny on fuel and big on power while never compromising performance or reliability. Removable Mount for Tohatsu 9.8 HP -Out 26S came with the 8 HP Honda in the next picture. Here is a view from the cockpit and it shows the other mods done to the new motor to make it easier for Ruth and/or I to control it while also manning the rudder tiller.
